The figure of this sailor is an image of our navy transcendence. The Navy (Armada) is the naval branch of the armed forces, is in class one of more older navy´s in the world. His beginnings are dated in the XV and XVI centuries when the union of the spanish kingdoms of Castille and Aragón in the figure of the Catholic Kings.
From this time the Armada have a vital role in the history of Spain yet in the defence or in the logistic of the Spanish Empire. In his greats triumphs the discover of America, the first round around the world by Magallanes and Juan Sebastián Elcano or the discover of the maritime route from America to Asia by Andrés de Urdaneta.
Was the most powerful navy from XVI century to the end of XVII and one of the three first in the world to the beginning of the XIX century. Today is one of the more important in the world, one of the only eight navy’s capablest of deploy his power in his hemisphere.
