Was created the 24 of January of 1966 under the name of Airborne Infantry Brigade. In the 1987 year begin the remove of his units from the La Coruña and Santiago de Compostela cities to the “Base General Morillo” in the city of Vilaboa, Pontevedra.
In the year 1988 change is denomination to Light Infantry Airborne Brigade and incorporated the Regiment of Infantry “Príncipe” Nº3, located in the city o Siero, Asturias. In 1994 go to be part of Rapid Action Forces, FAR, together whit the BRIPAC (Paratroopers Brigade), BRILEG (Spanish Legion Brigade) and the Light Armored Cavalry Regiment “Lusitania” Nº8. In the year 1996 go to be denominated Light Infantry Brigade “Galicia” VII”.
The BRILAT lost his condition of airborne in 2007 when incorporated a mechanized unit and is transformed in a polyvalent brigade.
