Aragon volunteer 1762 (Code: SA16)

This unit was create in the XVIII century and disappear in 1824. Fight with distinction in the Peninsular War  specially in the two sieges of the Zaragoza city. Hold musket and pistol in the belt. 

With occasion of the war against England and Portugal in 1962 is created the Regiment of Light Infantry Aragón Volunteers. With every of their six companies formed with volunteers of the cities of the old kingdom of Aragón: Zaragoza, Calatayud, Daroca, Teruel, Albarracín, Huesca, Barbastro, Benabarre, Tarazona, Jaca y Cinco Villas.

In the summer of 1762 and under the command of Count of Aranda and in a column with another units pierce the frontier and come in deep in Portugal. Fight in different actions specially in reconnaissance missions. In war against England  is send to Gibraltar for the great siege of the rock   and is used to destroy the food support of the enemy burning his farming.

 

In 1783 and signed the peace after of 42 months of ineffective siege is send to Catalonia but soon back to Cadiz  for fight against contraband a bandits gangs. In 1787 is embarked to Orán,  Algeria, where defend the outpost of Santa Cruz, San Gregorio and the redoubt of Mers-el-Kebir leave in this task 26 months.
